Radio Action Theater, a collaboration between writer/director Robert Clem and composer Donald Stark, has since 1991 produced dramatic programs aired on NPR, Pacifica radio and in 55 countries around the , with performances by Eli Wallach, Ossie Davis, Betty Buckley, Campbell Scott, Hope Davis, Michael O’Keefe, David Strathairn, Lois Smith, Jeffrey Wright, John Glover and Will Patton, among others. Notable programs include adaptations of William Faulkner’s ‘Spotted Horses’, ‘Honor’ and ‘Mountain Victory’, part of the three hour series Centennial Faulkner (1997); Untouchable Dr. Wilson; Charles Chestnutt: The Inner Life of Slavery, with a dramatization of Chestnutt’s story ‘Dave’s Neckliss’; and Child of the Sun, a five-part series with Hispanic and native American actors dramatizing the expedition of Hernando de Soto. With South Carolina Educational Radio, in 1994 New Media produced the two-part Tall Tales from the Hunters' Camp, based on stories by 19th century writer William Gilmore Simms. |
